Treatment for depression, anxiety, relationships, and self-worth-grounded in clinical expertise and cultural humility.
Treatment for depression, anxiety, relationships, and self-worth-grounded in clinical expertise and cultural humility.
Navigating emotional and relational struggles alone can feel deeply painful, especially when the patterns are long-standing or difficult to articulate. I am Dr. Manasi Shankar, a licensed therapist serving individuals, couples, and families across California. My work is grounded in clinical precision and a deep respect for the life experiences that have brought you here.
I specialize in helping clients explore identity, shift relational dynamics, and recognize their capabilities-particularly around anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-worth, and attachment wounds.
Evidence-Based & Culturally-Informed Therapy
I am a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TEAM CBT), with specialized expertise in helping clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that drive emotional distress and behavioral cycles. I am also a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) clinician, trained to support the resolution of distressing experiences and negative self-beliefs through a structured, neuroscience-informed approach. Additionally, I have advanced training in Exposure and Relapse Prevention (ERP) Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
A Focus on South Asian Immigrant Experiences
Though not my sole focus, a central part of my practice involves working with first- and second-generation South Asian immigrants. I am especially drawn to this work because I understand-both personally and clinically, how layered it can be to live within and between cultures. Together, we explore the weight of expectations, the quiet tension between autonomy and belonging, and the emotional patterns shaped by family, culture, and context.
How I Work
My approach is goal-oriented and insight-driven, shaped by a direct yet collaborative style. As a deeply invested clinician, I approach each client’s pain points and wounds with care. We build a strong therapeutic relationship that centers your well-being while drawing from structured, evidence-based tools to support lasting change.

While I am an out-of-network provider, many of my clients receive partial reimbursement from insurance plans such as Aetna, BCBS, United and others. I provide detailed Superbills and guidance to make the process simple and stress-free, so you can focus on your care - not the paperwork.
